CONTACT US

We're Dementia Friendly

We're Dementia Friendly

Eastbury Manor House is an accredited Dementia Friendly Venue, as part of the Mayor of London's charter. This means that for people living with Dementia, you can visit knowing that staff can assist you, and that we can also make small adaptations to make your visit easier. You can ask us to adjust lighting in a room if it is too bright. Our visitor guide also has a key to show you which rooms are noisy, and which are calmer spaces.

For groups, we can also arrange Dementia Friendly tours, led by the house Curator.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance Dogs

We understand that assistance dogs are doing a very important job, and they are welcome at Eastbury. We do ask they are kept on a lead at all times in the house and gardens. Other dogs are not allowed inside the house, so please don't be alarmed if our staff ask you about your companion!

Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair Access

Eastbury is fully wheelchair accessible, except from access to the top of the West Tower. Our front and side access are all sloped to allow ease of access., and there is a platform lift for access to the upper floors. From time to time, we may limit the number of wheelchair users on upper floors to comply with our evacuation procedures. We'll always communicate this to you.

Large Format Guides

Large Format Guides

When you arrive, we offer all visitors a quick map and guide. You can request a large print version of this and we'll be more than happy to provide one. Our text documents in each room are designed with large font sizes. However, should you need something a bit bigger, we have a larger version available at reception. Also, our Digital Guide has an audio tour which can help you get a sense for the house and its history.

A Personal Approach

A Personal Approach

We want to make sure our visitors feel comfortable and safe using our spaces. If you have a visible disability, our Welcome Team members may ask you to complete a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan. This helps let our team on site know what we can do to assist in an emergency, for example if we can assist you downstairs, or provide a visual warning in case of a fire alarm. That way you can enjoy Eastbury with added peace of mind. You can also request this yourself on arrival or in advance.
